Submitting tax returns online for clients came as no shock to Princep Pardoe, we had been using tax software for 4 years previous to self assessment. We were among the first to use the efficient and effective on-line method in 1997 (then called Electronic lodgement) and now called ‘Filing by internet’.
Tax refunds where appropriate, happen very quickly and liabilities (sadly the more likely!) are usually in agreed figures as advised to you when the underlying accounts are prepared. A standard fee system is used, with a basic fee for preparation, obtaining your approval and signature and then submission. Each return is given to you with a computation of the taxes due and the dates and amounts of payment. The tax system gives less and less scope for tax saving but we offer suitable advice in mitigating tax liabilities whenever possible. For the last 18 years we have issued a plastic wallet to clients to coincide with the tax year end. This reminder/questionnaire enables clients to pull together the relevant information to ensure an efficient and speedy preparation of the return.
